Jill Scholes BIID

A member the British Institute of Interior Design, Jill trained at Chelsea Art School and designed in London before moving to Italy, where she worked in Rome while studying classical architecture. On her return to the UK, she gathered projects providing the momentum to form her own company, now based Holland Park. Much of her work is for local West London clients, with projects beyond ranging form the Home Counties to the French Alps.

Jill Scholes works on a range of commercial and residential commissions, with a commitment to creative design and professional management of projects. Her interiors are characterised by a combination of style, comfort and individuality, giving them an enduring appeal.

Jill regularly works in collaboration with other designers, architects, project managers and engineers forming a team, especially for larger projects.

Design approach

Jill Scholes approaches each project with a fresh eye, looking foremost to draw out the inherent architectural qualities in an interior, and using this context to drive her designs. A detailed client brief sets the direction of the design and ensures that while aesthetic aspirations are met, practical considerations – like well-planned space and clever storage – are never overlooked. Clients can be as involved or removed from the design process as they like, Jill works in whatever way fits with their often busy lives.

As well as furnishings and colour schemes, Jill also deals with the technical aspects of interior design from initial site survey, through to production of detailed technical drawings and building schedules – see Range of services

Inspiration

Jill is constantly researching new materials and crafts people to add to her trusted notebook of suppliers and contacts. She believes that characterful, timeless interiors always combine elements of old and new. Interested in a sensitive and sustainable approach to creating interiors, Jill strongly advocates re-using and updating existing fittings or furniture where possible and combining these with antiques and bespoke commissioned pieces.
